I think Christian music, especially rap and reggae, is indeed getting a bit too worldly. For the simple fact that they - the Christian artists - appear to be emulating everything from the secular artists (phrases, dances, rhythm etc). I understand that you've gatta give the youths what they like, but i think it can be given in more creative ways than simply changing the words to the same secular beat, and tune, for that much.

Id have to disagree somewhat...Dances shuldnt neccesarily be used but when it comes to the music...This generation seems to b faced with the most strife...n are lost. My youth group is G.M.A.D..GENERATION MAKING A DIFFERENCE n we have numerous christian artists that are apart of us nd they use beats n rhythms from secular songs but thats wat keeps the youth ministry alive and interested. When this is done the christian version rewrites over the secular and you find unsaved persons even singin n bopin to the songs.Play hymns in youths n c how many ppl come. It is not the beat nor the rhythms that makes a song secular now is it? Its the words. Satan has it out for this generation as people of God we must b as creative and crafty as possible in reaching the youth.

I totally agree with ladyofintegrity for the simple fact that we as christians should be able to set ah different atmosphere.... for example you hear ah secular music on the radio, than you come to church and the choir singing a song with dat same beat... it's no differ... We should be people of high moral standerds... Were as our walk, our talk, our atire and our music is completely different from the world.

I think the best scriptural reference for this is found in 1 Corinthians 9:20-22. Paul said he became all things to all men (of course without losing his spirituality). The most important thing to consider is getting the message accross. The core message should be communicated in an effective manner. Once we are effectively conveying the message, the methods are secondary and inconsequential. Some like it this way , and some like it that way. The key is figure out what is conducive for your target audience, THEN SOUND IT! Just my opinion. PASTA J

lol i jus wanna put in a small giggle at firekid *25cent* good one lol.....but in reference to christian music n it bein to worldly im gonna go with emile n say once the message is bein conveyed then i feel as if their christian duties are fulfilled. Im not knocking the idea that christians should set the standard and the bar in all areas and that they should b original....but on the same hand we have to be wise in our maneauvers n transform wat the devil is using for evil n use it for good...to glorify God...

he who wineth souls is wise...what is a cecular beat? truth be told a beat has no face, meaning it is not good or bad.. the difference is the heart of the man, some use it to Glorify GOD others for their own selfish gains...i know gospel artist that sang over a beat & cecular artist such as beenie man, elephant man etc...took the beat & sang their "wordly" music to it so to speak...you have producers like dark child who gave his life to the LORD & still makes beats for both cecular & gospel artist...is he wrong? To me its just ignorant to say a gospel artist cant take something the devil meant for bad & use it for good! where is our focus people? get up in ya Word some more & learn to rightfully divide it in all truth being led by the HOLY SPIRIT rather than our feelings...feelings change but the Word never does. A house divided against itself can not stand, lets stand together as a body.Any gospel artist etc giving GOD Glory by any means & making a difference im all for it!! STANDUPFORJESUS!!

fire4000, you just lost me with all that "a house divided against itself" stuff, cause nobody said that they were against these Christian artists. The forum was just asking persons opinion on whether or not they felt christian music was getting a bit too secular. And you either agree or disagree. It had nothing to do with being against the persons that sing them. It's just that some persons like myself believe that, gospel artists can be a bit more creative. Yes, the music is exciting and fun, but is it really what causes a person to come to Christ. Most times it's the testimonies and alter calls after the jumpy music that really cause people to consider coming to Christ. I totally agree with the statement "win them by all means", this is our major goal, but i think we could also let people know that we're not just christians missing the things of the world but, leaders who dare to make a difference with not only our talents but our originality and creativity!

Fire4000, based on what you said about a producer making music for both secular and gospel artists; only one song came to mind i dont know if you heard it "Price Tag' by Da Truth feat Trip Lee on the 'Open Book' album. Anyhow here is a verse based on what you had to say... Cause I really believe we try to justify our actions too much and say nothing is wrong
I know some dudes that are christians that produce for the wicked, And i know some musicians that use their gift in the church, But the same musicians that use their gift in the church, Produce and play for the wicked but they call it work, And they try and justify and say that it`s just a job, That`s a customized line that they use to compromise, Just adjust the knob on your radio, here we go, Another song a saint produced that`s producing lust and lies, There`s another side of the coin, i know you know where i`m going This is bigger than trying to stay employed, And i`m so convinced that there`s more, Cause if these same producers were writers they wouldn`t write for playboy, Oh boy, i know i sound kinda stern, But if they majored in communications they wouldn`t work for howard stern, I know their more concerned about the dollars earned, Then they are god`s glory i ain`t talking out of turn, You helping the same people that`s working against the kingdom, You ain`t taking it back by force you making matters worse, They all try and get off by saying "i ain`t the star", That`s like saying i ain`t rob the bank man i just drove the car, You ain`t gotta shoot the ball to put points on the board, All you gotta do is pass and help the other team score, So even if you on them boards you still guilty as charged, On that tour, by the way, god didn`t open that door.
