now i know i walkin on egg shells with this one lol....but
i also find myself listening to other genres of music, whether it be reggae, inspirational, gospel, hip hop, r &b, etc. i just really LOVE music. music is my method of jus tuning everything out. and i agree it is hard to listen to the same thing over and over. for example the street light mix tape 3....LOVED IT...but what else is out there? i have played that til my cd stop workin!
with the local artists monty, lynx etc, some music i can feel but it is really hard fa me i cant even lie because i have a serious problem with someone trying to be somethin that they are NOT. if u are a bahamian why are you trying to sound like a jamaican or an american? if i want to hear a jamaican i rather go listen to morgan heritage than listen to someone trying to sound that way...and that makes it unappealing to me. now artists like papa smurf....i love it...thats a TRUE bahamian. i can relate to everything he says, half of these local artist trying to put on a accent so much that u get tired of deciphering what they're saying.
secular music on the whole, i know that its wrong but i feel that until gospel is more easily accesible and more creative that it wil be a problem for me...unless i stop listening to music completely...

Now I am going back a few messages when I think misscontroversial i think it was that said you cant really distinguish the diff between gosp and sec music today. the person went on to saying why is there a problem with listening if WE feel nothing is wrong with it.
The key words are "we feel nothing is wrong with it". All i wanted to say is we have to understand with music this leads us right back to subliminal messages where only our subconscience picks up the true interpretation of the message given. So we may say oh nothing is wrong I havent seen any change in my actions becase of the songs.... but it doesnt happen over night; just like how change does not happen over night it is a process. And when you constantly feed your spirit with something that does not line up with the word of God then it is too late because you allowed an open door for the enemy to work from months of the music you fed your spirit with.
Now I know it is hard to pry yourself away, but you still must be careful of what you constantly feed your spirit with. I do agree some songs may be positive, but still dont jump up too quick and say oh nothing is wrong with it because our spirit may detect something different. So what I feel you should do is seek God about the situation.. because this is indeed a difficult thing as a teen to face. But you never know by you allowing the songs that have a positive message in your spirit you may start to compromise and let the devil swing you and then it can lead to other songs and then you end up on that path all over again addicted to the other songs that are NOT positive

Subliminal messages... Sometimes words are used in musical beats and distorted to just make it sound like a sound/beat. So I feel that even using secular beats in gospel music is just as bad as using it in a secular music. And when beats start playin more than likely a person would think of the original secular song while in church listening to the gospel remake. When I heard a milli started playing in church I was like "What in the world!". And the original lyrics came to mind.
