In some of the gospel and secular music i barely here a difference.... Especially with the culture riddims!....... and this isnt THAT bad of a thing to me, because you see non save people jamming to Christian music. However, that kinda erases the line between secular and gospel music......doesnt it?

miss contraversial you gat to come harder than dat to try and justify listening to secular music the truth is what you put in really determines what comes out and the reason people doin so much stupid stuff is because they putting garbage in so I belive it's wrong

i agree completely! What you put in does determine what comes out......However who or what determines what is garbage and what is not?........ i can cut and paste words from a song by a so called secular artist and also a so called gospel artist and the similarities are surprising mad pastor.......
Some of the most uplifting songs out there....are songs by so called secular artist....some songs i have scene ministered in CHURCH for e.g fantasia i believe or Rueban(before he got save) i need a angel
And the list can go on

Well We can easily determine what is garbage anything that does not contribute to you being the person and individual God determined for you to be. I agree that there are some secular songs out there with positive messages however I feel as though as artist you should determine which side of the fence you're on truthfully the bible says either you're hot or cold and God said I rather you be hot or I will spit you out my mouth even God don't play dat..... so why listen to a person that is doubled tounge.... Now no one is perfect.... but by their fruits you will no them.... what is the spirit behind the music ?

The way i see it...... not every one googles or does background research on a artist before they listen to a song.....When i hear a cool song on the radio(with out even knowing whose singing it) but just by the words of the song..... (and these songs that i am referring to do not only have positive meanings but are also lifting up God)..I truly dont see the sin in listening to them
"so why listen to a person that is doubled tounge.... Now no one is perfect.... but by their fruits you will no them.... "
When you say By their fruits i would think you mean their music.... and if their music is uplifting the right things....not encouraging anything against God's word then why is it wrong?
And the only difference between some "secular" artist and some "christians" ones is that their sin is more publicsize........ i feel if they are lifting up God and positive vibes......... then hay
Ands its really local Christian artist that are opening the door for opinions like mine....... because with some of their culture and reggae songs you bearly hear differences....its them who removed the line.....not us

Well I hear you and See your Point of veiw... when I say fruits I mean lifestyle not only music or the words to their music.... there is a difference between a person that is saved and one that isn't a saved person is someone that wants to live for God and is trying to do that even though they may mess up.... an unsaved person is one who cares less about trying to please God
Why did I mentiin the difference because I feel as though with the artist we listen to their lifstyle alone tells us what kind of spirit is behind the music. For example R Kelly one Minute He singing He saved me the other trapped in someones closet smokin on a blunt... I don't get it we give pastors a hard time when they mess up and say he can't preach to me no more yet we have adouble standard with musical artist. Remeber God wants you Hot not in bhetween We should be the same when deciding who we will listen to or not.... To me in my opinion I'm not saying this is gospen but to me being positive is not enbogh you need to be saved and glorifying God not only in music you produce but lifestyle you live

geeeeee this forum hot and it just get started lol.........
well all i want to say is....... if we are christians then lets be christians stop lookin for things to gratify the flesh. My only disagreement is R.kelly is a well known artist....so of course you know about his lifestyle yaknow....so ya know he aint save and if ya on his run you probably race up.but some artist lifestyles arent that open.so How do ya know if they save or not..sometimes people dont even check who singing the songs

Music is one of the main devices the enemy uses in order to get and keep believers in a worldly mindset. The word "secular" is a hint to us as believers. It means "pertaining to worldly things", I believe that when we make choice to serve Jesus it is crucial that we leave and forsake the things of the world 1 Peter 5:8 says to "Be sober-minded, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour". So the enemy is looking for those that are dibbling and dabbling in the world, his job is to keep us from our purpose and he will devour if we are not watchful. As for my opinion I would rather just be on the safe side and listen to gospel straight up than to be listening to secular music that could cause me to lose my soul. Look at this concept: music is so powerful; worship music has the power to usher us into God's presence; praise music makes us happy and want to give God God all glory; R&B music has the potential to cause us to want sex 'love' and money and clothing etc. (all so that we can 'feel' good ---self-glorification). We must forget those things that are behind... and press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling...(Phil 3:19).

Ine ga lie i ga b dead straight up..ine tryna attack no one but its easy to quote scriptures. But do you really think its that easy to follow them out? I am a person who is deep in music..music is apart of me ..I listen to music while i wash the dishes..when im on the computer...while doin h.w...when im not listenin to music..im singin..I find myself leaning more towards inpiration secular music more so than gospel...as a teenager especially..i do not always be in the frame of mind for slow worship..churchy songs..sometimes id rather something with a more upbeat tempo..Christian music for the youth is not promoted enough! its not at my disposal..yeh u give out yah lil cd n i take home n play the songs over and over again but i get tired of to it n listen to something new so i end up fallin right back into secular music.

Actually its not easy to obey scriptures. I can quote scriptures because I've already been delivered from secular music, it is my guide and what I live by. As long as we are in this world and have this mortal body our flesh or body is always going to oppose the values of God and the standard that He wants us to live by. The flesh/body is of this world it cares nothing about Jesus or going to live in heaven because it only wants to be in this world pleasing itself. Now when we become believers of and in Christ then this body must be put under subjection, meaning that the flesh will no longer rule us but we would be guided by the Spirit of God that enters us when we come to Christ. Now you talk about teenagers.... Teenagers for one have the ability to understand the Word of God, u say that u would rather more upbeat songs than slow worship well there are soooooooo many Christian artist out there that are not singin slow worship, you just have to find them "google them" you gat Tye Tribbett, Deitrick Haddon, Mary Mary just to name a few.(its not at my disposal) It sames to me that what u are doin is tryin to justify listening to secular music dnt get me wrong nah I do understand where you are coming form but even teenagers are strong enough to stand up for what is right rather than just go along with whatever is making them 'feel good' at the moment. God has given us choices, how do you think men and women become great in God? Its because of the choices that they make, God don't ever force anything on anyone He gives you a choice either you choose life or you choose death.

True mS annoynumis I believe that Christian music needs to be more available it's out there in abundance but I believe the secular music is more accessable and easier for you guys to get a hold of because it is heavily promoted and always up in your face so Gospel music has to try and find a way to be more accessable and now that you mentioned that I will see how i can help in amking that happen. But also remeber that not all gospel music is slow tempered but there are many genres of Gospel just like there is secular

To be honest....some persons taste in music is different...especially when we talking about teenage Christians ....kirk Franklyn and Mary mary and all the rest of them are cool or whatever especially when in church. But not everyday you feeling like listening to that same ole genre what you been hearing from you was like 5......It has nothing to do with feeding ya flesh...Thats why i like music from Ricardo Clarke and Lynx and Landlord and Monty dem because they offer something different...something you could hear when you feeling like just chillen you could just relax or party and listen to with out backsliding.. ... but all i was saying is some of the secular artist offer the same thing. If i dont know much about artist n who singing this and that some of the gospel artist i would take for secular music and vice versa only thing what really is make the difference in music is their lyrics....so back to my question at hand.....some music mainly culture are really positive and righteous music they lifting up God and positive messages, promoting peace everything so whats wrong with listening to them...... like i said before with some music it feels like their is no longer the line between sec. and gosp. music...... so why cant we listening to some of them especially when its the christian people who are erasing the line?
